Facilities
Our laboratory at KST B.J. Habibie covers the path from synthesis to electrochemical testing and in situ spectroscopy. For questions that need brighter light, we take our samples to synchrotron and neutron sources through competitive access programmes.
For group members
Electrochemical testing
Workstations for electrocatalysis, energy storage, and sensing measurements.
- Potentiostats and galvanostats
- H-cells and gas diffusion electrode cells for CO2 reduction
- Three-electrode cells and screen-printed electrodes
Product analysis and gas handling
Knowing what a catalyst makes matters as much as the current it draws.
- Online gas chromatography connected to the electrochemical cell, for hydrogen and CO2 reduction products
- Mass flow controllers for argon, CO2, and nitrogen
- Add your liquid product analysis instruments
In situ spectroscopy
Cells and optics for following a material while the reaction runs.
- In situ Raman spectroscopy
- In situ infrared spectroscopy
- In situ UV-Vis spectroscopy
- Add instrument models and cell types
Materials synthesis
Routes we use to make nanostructured oxides, hydroxides, and carbons.
- Hydrothermal and solvothermal synthesis
- Molten salt synthesis and furnaces
- Leaching and recovery of spent battery materials
Large-scale facilities we use
Beamtime and access visits extend what we can measure at home.
Synchrotron Light Research Institute, Thailand
X-ray scattering with pair distribution function analysis, and operando X-ray absorption spectroscopy.
ISIS Neutron and Muon Source, United Kingdom
Neutron scattering on the MAPS and TOSCA instruments.
European access programmes
Electron microscopy, laser processing, and printed electronics through ReMade@ARI, RISEnergy, EXCITE, and EMERGE.
BRIN shared laboratories
Characterization available on campus, such as XRD, SEM, TEM, and XPS.
