Angga Hermawan

Group leader. Senior Researcher, Research Center for Nanotechnology Systems, BRIN

Angga Hermawan leads the Sustainable Electrochemical Energy and Conversion group, established in 2023 at the Research Center for Nanotechnology Systems of Indonesia's National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). The group develops nanostructured materials for electrocatalysis, energy storage, and sensing, with a strong interest in materials made from waste.

He received his B.Eng. in Materials Engineering from Institut Teknologi Bandung in 2015, and his master's degree in 2017 and Ph.D. in 2020 from the Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Tohoku University, Japan. He was a postdoctoral researcher with Prof. Wataru Sugimoto at Shinshu University from 2020 to 2022, joined BRIN in 2022, was a visiting scientist at ENS de Lyon in 2023, IRCELyon in 2024, University of Melbourne in 2025 and has been a Senior Researcher since 2025. He serves as Guest Editor of Discover Electrochemistry and Solid State Science.
